For your anti-virus needs, I would suggest Avira AntiVir庐 PersonalEdition Classic. It has excellent heuristics, a virus detection rate that is better than most ''paid-for'' anti-virus programs and is light on using your computer's resources. Uses less then 10 MB RAM on my machine. And did I mention that it's free!

BTW, Avoid the free version of an anti-virus called AVG, it is wildly popular, but it has horrible virus detection capibilities.

There are a few expensive ways to do this; mainly by purchasing the spyware programs. But, if you can, revert to an earlier version of your computer setting; this can be done by going to the Start menu; then going to Help and Support Center; then under ''pick a task'' go to system restore. A calendar should show up after you click on the link. Go to the date before you happened to visit the ''bad site'' keep in mind that anything you changed since acquiring the spyware, will be lost, but if it removes the spyware it may be well worth the sacrifice.
