I downloaded a free antivirus software called AVG...?

I cant uninstall it at all, I get an error message every time I try to uninstall. It says in the ''details'' part that there is a problem with C:/PROGRAMFILES/GRISOFT/AVG7/SETUP.INS

I have tried to go there and delete those files but it will not allow me to... does anyone know how to get the remaining files off of my computer for good????

AVG antivirus is great, why would you remove it? Try re-installing the program first, and then remove it again. Make sure you remove using the add/remove programs utility in the windows control panel. You also might try a program called windows installer cleanup utility, available here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

NOOOOO....don't get that program any more....it really sucks, i try before to unistall it also and i was having a hard time unistall it also....what you need to do to unistall it is in the bottom in the system tray on the bottom right corner there should be the icon of AVG....go to it right click it...then choose exit or close what ever it says down there...after you done that, go to control panels and unistall or install program..click on it ....then after that choose the program AVG right click it then click on unistall...and your are done...
if you reboot your computer in safe mode, you should be able to get rid of them
Try going to start, select settings, select add/remove programs, then find avg and select remove.
i would restart the computer first. uninstall threw the control panels first if that does not work try going threw the start button and find the uninstall icon inside the avg or grisoft folder.
