Do i need to download a firewall too?

and also i download a free trial cleaner and it said i have 455 errors and they could only fix 11 and if to fix anymore i have to pay are there any free ones i can download for free?

Yes, you do need a firewall (*). Depending on your level of experience, I would suggest the Zone Alarm Free Firewall if you are rather inexperienced, or the Comodo Firewall Pro if you are more experienced.

(*) The Windows XP firewall will NOT do, as it is only a one-way firewall... it does not block outgoing info. A firewall *must* be bi-directional to be effective.

You did not mention the name of the product that claimed to find a gazillion errors and now wants you to buy it to fix them, but I suggest that you disregard and get rid of it.

The Eusing Free Registry Cleaner does a good registry clean. Make sure that you have it save the changes before it does them, just in case.

Also, while I agree that Firefox is a better browser than Internet Explorer, it does NOT remove the need for a firewall.

Get CCleaner to clean your registry for fee (it is in the ''issues'' area). Also TuneUp Utilities 2008 has a 30 day trial and is a good registry cleaner.

Zone Alarm has a free firewall too, but if you have XP, the Windows firewall will probably do.
Uninstall that and install the free AVG anti virus control center. It can get rid of any errors. Also if you want to have a firewall, install mozilla firefox.
